RUBEN'S An all-time island favorite amongst locals and visitors alike, Ruben’s restaurant is a must-try while you’re on Isla Mujeres, with delicious and affordable Mexican food, in an intimate and cozy environment! With a change of location in October 2024, you can now find Ruben's in the local neighborhood of El Cañotal. It is within the old location of Taqueria Cachirul, just a block west of the Rainbow Stairs. Ruben’s restaurant was created by Ruben Chavez Martinez, a well-known member of the community here on Isla Mujeres, because of his big heart, always there for the children of Isla Mujeres, and the adults also in need. Ruben Chavez Martinez passed away in September 2020 after hospitalization due to Covid-19 with underlying health issues. He is missed! QUEEN MACABI Open for breakfast, as well as lunch, and early dinners, Queen Macabi is a tasty breakfast, Mexican and seafood spot on Isla Mujeres. With a new locatation from December 2023, you can find Queen Macabi on Avenida Paseo de las Aves, opposite Doro's Tacos, above the cake shop Dulce Tentacion. Queen Macabi is a great option for people staying mid-island in the local Colonias or for those out exploring the island’s hidden gems. They are open from early in the morning with a breakfast menu, and continue throughout the day until early evening with a menu of Mexican dishes and fresh seafood, they are open until 6 PM. Their menu includes some yummy choices such as omletes, enchiladas, and chilaquiles for breakfast, and seafood soup, ceviches, shrimp tacos, pasta, and some non-seafood options, to name just a few of the choices off their menu. Opened in August 2023, Raw Bar by Fish&Gin is the perfect option for those looking for sushi, sashimi, nigiri, ramen, and more. The sister restaurant of Fish&Gin is located opposite Mariscos de Humo on Isla Mujeres’ main bar and restaurant strip in the island’s downtown. PLAYA LANCHEROS " LA CASA DEL TIKINXIC" Looking out across the lagoon between Isla Mujeres and Cancun, Playa Lancheros, Casa del Tikinxic is a great spot to spend a day on the island, with a delicious lunch and some refreshing drinks.
