MAQUESITAS Y CHURROS

Looking for some sweet treats to satisfy your after-dinner cravings? Look no further, next to the town square (or "la plaza") in downtown Isla Mujeres (outside the Super Aki), as well as at the very north end of Av. Hidalgo, you will find pop-up stands serving up fresh marquesitas and churros every evening. “What is a marquesita?” we hear you say ... well, marquesitas, from the Yucatan region of Mexico, are a crunchy, crepe-style dessert rolled with your choice of fillings, including chocolate, condensed milk, cheese, bananas, and much more. Churros are a deep-fried dough, often sold covered in sugar, these are perfect for sharing! Both marquesitas and churros are a classic sweet evening snack in Mexico, often being sold in town squares and close to parks and main streets. Take a chance and try out these delicious treats and see if they satisfy your sweet tooth!
